Who am I?

I am called P.C. Shyamshankar, or simply Shyam, a name which has been mangled enough times in various places around the world, to the point where even I get confused when filling out my name. On the web, I am referred to by the nick sykora, whose etymology I have since forgotten. If the username sykora is taken, I usually don”t sign up. I’m 19 years old, or there abouts, and am doing my Bachelors degree in Computer Science.

Where am I?

I currently live in Chennai, in Tamil Nadu, in India, before which I lived in Melbourne, Australia and in various places in the US of A.

Why am I?

No idea.

What am I doing?

That should be fairly obvious. I am one of those ”techy persons” who spend their time with computers and the net and the latest jargon, etc, etc. Actually, it’s gone a bit further than that, and I’ve turned it into my life’s work.

My main (technical) interests are Cryptology, Algorithms and Number Theory, with a bit of Game Theory thrown in for fun. Otherwise, I like reading books, watching movies, listening to music - you know, the usual stuff.

I am a keen user of open source software, even if my hardware doesn’t like it. Right now, I’m using Debian Lenny/Sid, but I’ve also used Fedora (until 7).

Am I sure?

Yes, I’m sure. There have been a number of different sets of personal information on me circulating around the web, and people have been mislead about my name, age, gender, and almost anything else I had to specify on a web-form. Recently, this has been getting out of hand. This is, of course, my fault - but I’m not apologizing for knowing the meaning of the word ”cyberstalker” when I was 10, and being paranoid about it. Now though, I’m a bit more open…just a bit.
